CJC-1295 in Australia: What the Evidence Shows

CJC-1295 comes up constantly in peptide searches, often paired with Ipamorelin. But the amount of online discussion doesn't match the size of the published research base. Here's what's actually been studied.

What Is CJC-1295?

CJC-1295 is a synthetic peptide, developed as a longer-acting laboratory-modified version of a naturally occurring hormone precursor involved in the body's growth hormone signalling pathway (Jetté et al., 2005). A modification known as a Drug Affinity Complex (DAC) allows the molecule to bind to a blood protein, extending how long it remains active in the body from minutes to several days (Teichman et al., 2006). For background on how CJC-1295 and Ipamorelin are regulated together, see our regulatory overview.

What the Research Shows

The primary published human data on CJC-1295 comes from a single Phase I pharmacokinetic study, involving 65 healthy volunteers over a 49-day period (Teichman et al., 2006). That study measured how the compound behaved in the body following a single dose, reporting elevated hormone-signalling markers sustained for several days, with no serious adverse events recorded at the doses tested (Teichman et al., 2006).

What's Still Unclear

A pharmacokinetic study tells us how a compound moves through and is processed by the body, and its short-term effect on specific blood markers — it does not tell us whether using it produces meaningful, measurable outcomes over time, such as changes in body composition, strength, or recovery (Teichman et al., 2006). No efficacy trial has followed participants long-term to establish outcomes of that kind.

No registered human trial has studied CJC-1295 in the specific combination with other peptides, such as Ipamorelin, that is frequently discussed in wellness contexts — despite this being one of the most common ways it's referenced in public search behaviour.

Sustained elevation of the hormonal markers CJC-1295 affects is also a pathway researchers watch closely. Broader epidemiological research has associated chronically elevated levels of these markers with certain cancer risks over the long term — this has not been demonstrated as a risk specific to CJC-1295 itself, and no long-term human safety data exists either way. It's a reason ongoing, individualised medical monitoring matters if this compound is something you're considering.

Regulatory Status in Australia

CJC-1295 is not listed on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG) and does not carry Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) approval for any therapeutic use. Read more about how peptide consultation pathways are coordinated across Australia.

Where This Leaves You

A single 49-day pharmacokinetic study is a starting point for understanding a compound — not a complete efficacy or safety picture, and certainly not evidence for how it performs in combination with other peptides. If CJC-1295 has come up in your own research, this is a conversation worth having directly with an independent, registered healthcare practitioner, who can weigh the available data — and its limits — against your individual health history.
